2011
Postmates launches as an independent courier and delivery service, one of several competing for the same restaurants.
2020
Uber acquires Postmates in an all-stock deal worth roughly $2.65 billion. Two of the largest players become one company.
Since
Postmates has been folded into Uber Eats. The couriers, the restaurants and the fee structure now sit on Uber’s platform.
Consolidation is not a neutral event for a small restaurant. Fewer competing marketplaces means less pressure to keep commissions down, and fewer places to go when they rise.

The logo changed. The economics did not. Stacked at their published maximums, the fees on a marketplace order still look like this.
